How the Freelance Invoice Calculator Works
The calculator totals labor and additional services, applies the discount to those service charges, adds reimbursable expenses, and applies the user-entered tax percentage to discounted services only.
Formula and method
Labor = hours × hourly rate. Discounted services = (labor + additional services) × (1 − discount rate). Estimated tax = discounted services × tax rate. Invoice total = discounted services + reimbursable expenses + estimated tax. Balance = total − amount already paid.
Practical tips
List dates, descriptions, quantities, payment terms, invoice number, client details, and supporting receipts. Confirm how expenses and taxes should appear on your actual invoice.
Important limitations
Tax treatment of services and reimbursements varies by jurisdiction and business type. The tax percentage is an editable scenario, not tax advice or a compliant invoice document.
