How a Single Discount Is Calculated
The calculator multiplies the original price by the discount percentage to find the savings, then subtracts that amount from the original price to get the reduced price. The result represents one discount applied to the entered price.
What is not included
This tool does not stack multiple discounts, calculate sales tax, add shipping, convert currencies, or account for store-specific rounding. When discounts are applied one after another, the second percentage is usually calculated on the already-reduced price rather than the original price.
Example and limitations
Example: a 15% discount on a $80 item reduces the price by $12, leaving $68 before any tax or delivery charge. The calculator applies one discount rate to one original price; stacked promotions and local pricing rules are not modeled.
