How the Gravel Calculator Works
The tool calculates the rectangular volume from length, width, and depth, converts dimensions to meters, and adds the chosen allowance. It estimates mass by multiplying volume by the bulk density entered.
Formula and method
Volume = length × width × depth × (1 + allowance percentage). Estimated mass = volume in cubic meters × bulk density in kg/m³.
Tips for better estimates
Ask the supplier for the bulk density of the specific stone and account for compaction. The same volume can have a different delivered weight depending on moisture and grading.
Important limitations
The default density is only an illustrative starting point. It is not a guaranteed supplier value; replace it with the product specification before arranging delivery.
